Gothic fashion resembles the style of dress of those young persons who has identified themselves as the Goths. It is very much related to Goth music, however all those who got dressed according to this fashion don’t listen to the Goth sounds.
Typically Goth dresses consist mostly of black clothing featured with nicely designed silver pewter. The typical gothic kind of outfit, is mostly referred to the "romantic" or "mopey" look, and is restricted only because of what wearer thinks that he/she can pull off, and could (frequently it does) include elaborated corsets and gowns, teased hair, veils, fishnets, lots of eyeliner, and styles are mostly borrowed from the Victorians and Elizabethans. Tight-fitting trousers along with flounced shirts in the pattern of Lord Byron, and something having buckles over it are also very popular. Personal style has generally given more importance, and it is not unusual for some of the club-goers on any particular night to resemble dressed to nines for no appropriate reason.
The simplicity included in the style itself lends to the variation. It is often observed combined with objects of some other styles. Different kinds of piercing are not very much uncommon; mostly both females and males wear dark makeup. Hairs are most often dyed with a flat black pattern. There are very much similarities seen between black metal fashion and Goth fashion, which could make it hard to distinguish between the subculture of any individual. This can show a problem, as Goths don’t tend to like metal black and metal heads don’t tend to get together with Goths.
Anyhow, the grounds of gothic fashion are based on “whatever you accept is good”, since the gothic culture is against the rules of how one should look. On certain occasions, Goths would cut or tear their clothes with scissors, and then repair them with safety pins. This produces an odd splitting on the seams kind of look.
